Pump Station 24 - Phase III Services
The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT), District One constructed a new pump station to replace the existing over 50 year old station that provides drainage for I-190, the entry road into O’Hare International Airport. We led a diverse team providing construction engineering services for this replacement of Pump Station (PS) 24 in Cook County. The new PS 24 is located south of the existing pump station and is nearly four times the size. It is four stories tall, three of which are below ground, 100 feet long and 50 feet wide.
The Stantec led team provided all necessary inspection and documentation in a timely manner with no delay to the contractor. We completed all inspection and documentation in accordance with current IDOT manuals, policies and procedures. Our team was self-managed, requiring little supervision, well organized, and consistently available and responsive to problems and concerns. When unexpected construction problems arose, our team took the lead in analyzing and posing solutions, which resulted in timely and cost effective resolutions that were always in the best interest of the department. The project required extensive coordination with numerous state, regional, and municipal agencies to complete this project.
