Mount Holyoke College - Track & Field Athletic Facility
Flexible use of the available area was very important, so we designed a new full-size multi-purpose synthetic turf field inside of a new state-of-the-art 10-lane flood and chip urethane running track. The special hybrid infilled synthetic turf system was designed to meet the varying needs of the college’s field hockey and lacrosse programs while still allowing for other multi-purpose athletic uses. To allow for concurrent use of the facility by the track and lacrosse teams, we integrally designed a special netting system into the field edge.
Separate long and triple jump, shot put, and pole vault areas, each with its own spectator seating, were also included. We created a new natural grass rugby field & track throwing events area and renovated a natural grass soccer venue. Also included were a new 1200 seat bleachers and game management box as well as state-of-the-art energy efficient sports lighting and sound systems.
In addition to the athletic improvements, the plan upgraded pedestrian circulation and handicap accessibility, provided new equipment storage, and provided restrooms for spectators and participants.
