Mandan Street Improvements

The City of Mandan had managed its streets through a maintenance program for decades, and street reconstruction was uncommon. Historically, this approach had worked well for the City, but the time had come to revise the maintenance program to better serve residents.

Comprehensive reconstruction projects in urban settings rarely happen without challenges—but our design and construction services team was ready. Water main replacement was separately underway and required close coordination. When redesign of the cement-stabilized base and street materials sections was needed, our team secured the change order within one day—something that often takes weeks, causing big delays and added costs.

The key to keeping this three-year project on track was close and continued contact with the City Engineering Department. This resulted in a great working relationship and the ability to quickly adjust the project as needed. In the end, we negotiated design changes, delivered extra value, and kept within schedule and budget.

One of the best parts of the project? Positive community feedback on their new smooth-riding streets and no more patched pavement.
