Collaborating with the City of Compton to remedy a run-down residential development

We worked with our client, a residential developer, to help rebuild a blighted property in South Central Los Angeles. We collaborated with the City of Compton and a large urban infill home builder on the Willow Walk housing development. Our team conducted numerous environmental assessments and developed a plan to remediate soil and groundwater impacts resulting from a fire at a chemical plant and former tire manufacturer on the site. Two years and more than $3 million later, the property was recovered to residential standards, then developed into 136 townhomes in the City’s center.

Redevelopment funds for the project helped low income buyers own a piece of the community. The National Association of Home Builders recognized the transformational project with a national award.

Today, the Willow Walk development is a bright spot in the community. We were instrumental in these efforts. Our team’s creative solutions allowed us to quickly and cost effectively complete the remedial actions and meet the developer’s schedule.
