100 MW De l'Érable Wind Farm

A few years ago, Hydro-Québec called for proposals that issued a total of 2,000 megawatts of wind power. As part of this initiative, wind power developer Éolienne de l’Érable (part of Elecnor) brought our team of engineers to design the De l'Érable Wind Farm project in the Chaudières-Appalaches region.

Serving the community of Ste-Sophie-d’Halifax, Quebec, the project involves the construction of a wind farm with 50 turbines. Together, the turbines have a potential output of 100 megawatts—that is over 20,000 homes! Our mandate was to design and perform detailed engineering for the complete substation. Responsibilities included protection and control, as well as civil and electrical elements relating to studies and construction cost estimates.

Commissioned in November 2013, the De l'Érable Wind Farm holds a 20-year Electricity Supply Agreement with Hydro-Québec Distribution. The $400-million project will generate expected annual benefits of $1.3 million for the L’Érable region during the operational phase.
