Our environmental consultation for this landmark includes incorporating passive design features that reduce energy consumption

The rejuvenation of the Sydney Fish Market—one of the largest in the world—is set to create an iconic foodie destination on the Pyrmont foreshore at Blackwattle Bay. The project seeks to set an exemplary benchmark for public realm integration with contemporary market space within the unique harbour-based urban landscape.

Our sustainability team is assisting in the pursuit of a 5-Star Green Star rating for the new Sydney landmark, with our scope including environmentally sustainable design (ESD) advice and consultancy from concept until tender. The space intends to deliver unrivalled sustainable outcomes and processes, including naturally ventilated retail space that uses timber and other natural materials to provide a healthy, well-lit, and balanced space. We also introduced a passive biofiltration system to allow treatment of stormwater for reuse to reduce potable water consumption. Our design incorporates a rooftop photovoltaic (PV) array using a bespoke panel design to complement the unique roof architecture.

Upon completion, the redevelopment is expected to boost the state economy by an average of approximately AUD$52 million per year and support an additional 136 full time equivalent jobs on average per year.
