Kate Reeds

Practice Lead, Marine and Aquatic Ecology

Photo of Kate

Spanning from pure and applied research to high profile commercial consultancy and project management, Kate’s 20-year career in marine and coastal ecology has been diverse. She combines a strong practical background with advanced communication and reporting skills to deliver high quality, objective outcomes.

A large part of Kate's experience has included assessing the impacts of offshore and nearshore coastal infrastructure on the ecology of marine and estuarine habitats, particularly in relation to the construction and operation of ports, dredging, liquefied natural gas (LNG) and petroleum activities, pipeline installation, decommissioning and artificial habitat enhancement. She’s undertaken many offshore surveys across temperate and tropical areas and is a specialist in benthic ecology, with experience in habitat mapping (seagrass, mangroves, saltmarshes), fish/fisheries survey, water and sediment quality sampling and threatened marine fauna assessment.

When Kate isn’t working, she loves to surf and has explored some of the best waves in the world. When the surf is flat, she loves to whack a ball around the tennis court or get creative with some home renovations.
