As a public affairs specialist with a background in environmental engineering, Marisa focuses on groundwater and watershed management in California. In her role as a technical training facilitator, she advises public agencies on how to best engage the state’s most vulnerable communities in the collective management of their water resources.
Seeing her role as a bridge between agencies and communities, Marisa helps agencies convene open and accessible meetings, set management goals, allocate public funds, and develop strategic plans. She also facilitates discussion among technical advisory committees—on topics such as the application of statewide airborne electromagnetic (AEM) survey data, flood-managed aquifer recharge (Flood-MAR), transport dynamics of sands and sediments in river and coastal ecosystems, and preparation and coordination of groundwater projects and management actions.
When she’s not advising on water resource management, Marisa enjoys hiking, camping, backpacking, skiing, floating, birdwatching, or sight-seeing across Northern California.
