Motivated by the challenge of science and discovery, Maritza became a chemical engineer and obtained a master’s degree in water resources management. Today, with more than 15 years of experience, she specializes in environmental impact assessments and mining hydrogeology. She’s also participated in the development of hydrological studies at the basin level and water management at the operational level for the mining and agricultural sectors.
In her role as a senior water resources specialist, Maritza is responsible for evaluating, directing, and developing proposals and projects associated with hydrology, geochemistry and hydrogeochemistry, and water management. One of her most memorable projects was for HMS Panamerican Silver, which involved implementing sustainable development for four mining units.
When Maritza isn’t working on water resources management efforts, you’ll find her hiking, traveling, or playing volleyball.
