Barth Ballard

A senior lighting designer with more than 30 years of experience, Barth works directly with clients, architects, and interior designers to integrate all visual elements of a project’s design. Prior to transitioning to architectural lighting design, he served as the lighting director at the Old Globe Theatre in San Diego for 13 years.

To reinforce and maintain the design of each project, Barth performs photometric calculations, generates lighting fixture schedule, reviews product submittals, responds to plan reviewers’ comments, and produces lighting layout plans that become part of each project’s set of drawings. He has a passion for collaboration and is known for his ability to communicate with members of a creative team.

Barth feels deeply connected to nature. Every chance he gets, he heads outside for running and hiking—he’s covered almost every trail in San Diego County and completed some more extreme hikes involving long distances and high altitudes.
