Spreading the word on the European Union’s cooperation with Tunisia

To paint the picture of the European Commission’s involvement in Tunisia, Stantec’s international development team in Brussels, Belgium was awarded a project by the European Commission for the conception, realization and implementation of a communication strategy to promote the European Union’s cooperation with Tunisia. This five-year project is intended to increase the visibility of the partnership, with the objective to stimulate an improved image of the EU’s action across the Tunisian population.

Christophe Leroy, Operations Director for Stantec in Belgium: “We will work closely with the Delegation of the European Union and a large number of European programmes and stakeholders in Tunisia, to showcase how the European Union is attempting to support the social and economical development and the country’s challenges and ambitions. We have valuable experience in the country, and an in-house team in the field of communications and outreach, and are excited to put our expertise to use to help showcase the concrete cooperation between the EU and Tunisia.”

The Stantec team is tasked to set up and manage the overarching communication strategy for the EU in Tunisia covering all activities managed by or on behalf of the EU in the country. Where in the past the plans and decisions for communication on projects were made separately, this project’s aim is to combine efforts and communicate broadly on the presence and real action of the EU in Tunisia. As a country, Tunisia is among the first of the recipients of funds from the European Neighbourhood Instrument in the Southern Neighbourhood. There are many great stories to share, as we already do in the OPEN Neighbourhood South Programme. Next to telling these stories, we will make sure that the facts on EU policy priorities and projects funded in Tunisia are consistent and understandable, of course, while keeping in mind that each action, project or programme has its own specificities. We are looking forward to using the expertise and experience we have within Stantec to make this project a success.
