Manhattan’s waterfront: Building relationships to redefine what’s possible

January 06, 2025

How do you add park space, walkways, and bikeways in North America’s most densely populated city? You start by talking with the community.

The East Midtown Greenway is part of a project that will encircle Manhattan with pedestrian space. Public meetings that truly engaged the neighbors—and invited them to share their insights—helped deliver a project that redefines what’s possible.
