Enhanced asset management helps the City of Toledo plan for critical capital improvements, ensuring a sustainable infrastructure for years to come
The Collins Park Water Treatment Plant, and associated water infrastructure facilities, serve approximately 500,000 people in the greater Toledo area. So, when the City of Toledo decided to enhance their current water and wastewater asset management program, they brought us in to conduct the project. The project included reviewing assets at the Collins Park Water Treatment Plant as well as the low service and outlying pump stations.
Our team conducted condition assessments and gathered additional information on the equipment, particularly focusing on any that were missing from the City of Toledo’s asset inventory. Using our mTOOLS™ AutoForm application, the project team walked the sites, tablets in hand. These templates allowed us to apply relative, condition-related questions for each piece of equipment. Which means, through the tool’s smart form technique, the team could capture photos and generate an objective condition score rather than a subjective appraisal for each asset—and save a lot of time doing it.
With a more robust understanding of their assets, the City of Toledo is better prepared to efficiently manage and sustain their infrastructure. They can appropriately prioritize their maintenance activities or choose replacement projects for their equipment.
