Birkenhead Regeneration Socio-Economic Benefit Analysis

Established in 2019, the Wirral Growth Company (WGC) put forward a vision to transform Birkenhead’s town centre for its residents over the next 15 years and appointed our team to help them deliver it. We provided development economics along with other services to progress the scheme.

In our role for development economics, WGC tasked us with demonstrating the economic benefits the redevelopment would bring to Birkenhead such as job creation, employment for Wirral residents, and gross value added (GVA) creation. Additionally, we considered the impact on local community infrastructure like schools, general practitioners, and open space. We prepared a suite of evidence including a social infrastructure assessment, economic benefits statements, and the population and human health chapter of the supporting environmental statement.

The data and reports helped WGC gain planning permission in April 2021. When finished, the redevelopment of Birkenhead’s civic hub will deliver a sustainable neighbourhood with commerce, transport, and leisure at its heart.
