James’ approach is based on pragmatism, problem solving, and commercial awareness. Focused on managing the risk of fire in the built environment, he works actively with the overall design team to make sure solid fire safety solutions are embraced, considering both architectural and functional objectives.
Leading our national fire safety business in the United Kingdom, James’ team is one of the largest multi-disciplinary groups of its kind both in the UK and internationally. He has expertise delivering blast mitigation, gas migration analysis, and flame detection analysis to support offshore and onshore terminals and refineries across the world. He also has experience delivering active and passive fire safety designs and strategies that achieve performance-based solutions for fire safety challenges across the built environment.
James was nominated to be chair of the British Standards Institution committee developing a standard on hazard mitigation for hazardous industries. He has a PhD in systemic fire safety engineering and sits on the committee of the Forum for the Built Environment branch in Edinburgh, helping to bring like-minded people together to collaborate, debate, and deliver excellence in the built environment.
