Roberto has always been fascinated by water. For him, it’s the foundation of civilization and the key to a sustainable future. That’s why he decided to pursue a career in the field of civil engineering. He wanted to learn how to design, build, and manage water systems that would meet the needs of both society and the environment.
As a graduate civil engineer, Roberto works with project teams on sustainable technical design solutions for clients in the United Kingdom and Ireland and advises clients on the different design options available to them. One of his most memorable projects to date is the St Helens Wastewater Treatment Works wetland project. He’s helping design a hybrid wetland solution that involves combining an aerated sub-surface flow wetland with a free water surface wetland that adheres to Environment Agency regulations.
When he isn’t designing sustainable water and wastewater solutions, Roberto enjoys travelling and experiencing new places and countries, being outdoors, going on hikes, and sea and river swimming. A massive sports fan, he’s also very passionate about football.
