Stantec appoints new director of urban regeneration for the UK and Ireland

Stantec, a global leader in sustainable design and engineering, has appointed Doug McDougall as director of urban regeneration for the UK and Ireland. Based in Reading, he joins Stantec from WSP, where he served as sector lead for urban regeneration.

One of his primary roles, alongside Justin Kenworthy, a planning director in Stantec’s London team, will be to co-lead the Urban Regeneration sector team and strategy for the UK and Ireland. McDougall will be working with colleagues across the business to draw together collaborative teams, support learning, and enhance visibility of Stantec’s regenerative work.

McDougall has comprehensive experience supporting the design and delivery of large-scale interdisciplinary regeneration endeavours nationwide. In his previous roles, he has been involved with transformational Stantec-supported urban improvement schemes, including Barking Riverside and Sugar House Island in Stratford, London.

He will now work to leverage the Company’s extensive early stage town planning, urban design, development economics, and wider design expertise. In doing so, he will enrich public and private sector responses and partnerships while forming unique development strategies. McDougall’s role will allow him to bridge gaps across various disciplines to guide the Company’s approach to creating lasting urban improvements in communities. He will support clients in delivering sustainable, connected, and equitable places.
