Stantec responds to the UK Government Autumn Statement 2022

“At Stantec, as a global leader of sustainable, community-led design and engineering services, we welcome the Government’s continued commitment to invest in HS2, Northern Powerhouse Rail, renewable energy infrastructure and Sizewell C. 

“Improving transportation networks across the country is key to widespread economic development and regional growth. At the same time, creating a low-carbon energy sector and increasing its resilience is a fundamental piece of the UK’s net zero puzzle.

“We also appreciate today’s commitments to further invest in science, innovation and emerging technologies; as well as the announcement to extend devolved spending powers into Suffolk, Cornwall, Norfolk and parts of the North East.  

“However, at a point where economic concerns are paramount and any downturn is destined to affect the less advantaged in society the most, we would welcome further detail around the Government’s future intentions for community-led, Levelling Up investments. 

“Keeping the momentum up on the Levelling Up agenda is vital if we are to provide better opportunities, boost productivity and encourage healthier lifestyles across the country during volatile economic times. With this in mind, we ask for clarity and further detail around the Government’s long-term plans for Levelling Up”.
