Innovation Festival 2024
Join us at Northumbrian Water’s 2024 Innovation Festival. This year Stantec will be collaborating with industry partners to discuss carbon reduction, the Ouseburn Catchment and biorefineries.
See you in Newcastle!
We’re excited to be back at Newcastle Racecourse for the 2024 Innovation Festival from the 8 to 11 July. This year, the week-long event looks to explore how we move at speed and scale-up existing projects.
In 2024 we are hosting three collaborative sprints, each tackling an industry challenge, enabling innovation, pushing boundaries, and striving for positive change.
Facilitating people power to inform regeneration of the Ouseburn Catchment
Led by Stantec and Xylem with input from the Rivers Trust, in this sprint we look to develop a long-term collaboration to monitor the state of the Ouseburn, enabling different stakeholders and communities to gather data to inform and encourage activities and showcase the impact of improvements to the river’s health. How might we collaborate across the catchment to implement a comprehensive, sustainable monitoring plan for the Ouseburn that inspires everyone to improve the health of the river? Learn More | RegisterDisrupting the norm: Bold path to net zero!
Led by Stantec, Avove and Galliford Try, in this sprint we look to develop a detailed plan setting out how the Northumbrian Water ‘Five Point Plan’ will be successfully delivered within agreed timescales. The UK Government has made a legislative commitment to attain Net Zero emissions by 2050, and it is recognised that the construction sector must change at pace to be part of the solution. How will Northumbrian Water Group’s Five Point Plan deliver, through innovative procurement and design, our lowest carbon AMP8 Programme? Led by Stantec, Jacobs, and Royal HaskoningDHV, this sprint will look to develop a comprehensive blueprint for transforming Howdon and Bran Sands Sewage Treatment Works into biorefineries. This blueprint can serve as the foundation for an Ofwat Innovation competition transformation bid, aimed at accelerating the adoption of sustainable and resource efficient practices in the water industry. How do we advance the wastewater treatment plant of the future, reducing process emissions and recovering resources from wastewater streams? Learn More | RegisterIdeas
