Specialising in roading contract management, Mike maintains our transport presence in New Zealand’s central North Island—covering Manawatu, Whanganui, Taranaki and the Central Plateau—and helps complete existing roading construction projects in this area.
With decades of experience in state highway and local networks it’s no wonder Mike typically works as Engineer to the Contract. And after all these years he still loves his job because he gets to solve unique and difficult problems and interact with clients.
A standout project for Mike was the 2011 Manawatu Gorge slip. He looked at treatment options and then managed a multi-organisational, skilled team that designed and constructed a unique rock fall protection system that focused on ease of future maintenance and clearing debris.
Mike’s busy outside of work too, managing to read up to two books a week, maintain a two-acre garden, spend time with nine grandchildren, holiday overseas, and follow his two favourite sports—rugby and Formula 1 motor racing.
