University of Rochester - Wegmans Hall
Our team was contracted by the University of Rochester to provide commissioning services for the new construction of four-story, 58,600 square foot building. The building, named Wegmans Hall, contains engineering offices, a 158-seat lecture hall, conference rooms, dry labs, collaboration spaces and typical ancillary circulation spaces.
Wegmans was created to house the Goergen Institute for Data Science: a center that will enhance the University of Rochester’s research strengths in machine learning, artificial intelligence, biostatistics, and biomedicine. Systems commissioned fell under the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing designations. As an interdisciplinary space, commissioning efforts had to consider solutions from the perspective of many distinct end user groups with differing needs of lab, collaboration and learning spaces. Our team created the commissioning masterplan and specifications, carried out owner project requirements for design, invitation for bids, and submittal reviews. We also performed witness duct leakage testing, site progress reports and deficiency log documentation.
Now complete, Wegmans Hall operates efficiently as an integral part of university research pursuits in data-driven sciences.
