Paul W. Crowley East Bay MET School
When the Rhode Island Department of Education explained their vision for Paul W. Crowley East Bay MET, our engineering team got excited. The public high school, housing 130 students and 20 staff, focuses on an individualized learning approach and an encompassing respect for the environment.
The school maximizes renewable energy sources, taking advantage of the site’s access to solar and geothermal energies. The facility has three stories of classroom spaces, multi-purpose rooms, environmental and digital labs, individual work rooms, and a STEAMM center.
Paul W. Crowley East Bay MET is committed to the three pillars of operating and educating in a green school: environmental impact of facilities (net zero), place-based learning (school as a teaching tool), and indoor environmental quality (health of students and staff).
Bringing sustainability down to Earth, the staff and students are exploring innovative ways of using the building to teach and learn about sustainability, green technologies, and the environment. Paul W. Crowley East Bay MET used state-of-the-art technology to become the first net zero high school in the region.
