Celebrating a local watershed and promoting active recreation

Arthur Langford Park Design/Site Renovations

Stantec, the Atlanta Beltline, and the City of Atlanta collaborated to rehabilitate Arthur Langford Park located in an underserved area of the city. The south side of the city is in desperate need of open space, and this project provides it with a new community space for events, a renovated recreation center, workout facility, basketball court, and skate park. The skate park is the city’s second official skate park—an exciting space for the community that caters to beginner skaters, but offers all the great amenities seen at larger skate parks.

The park design also included sustainable elements, like green infrastructure techniques that assist in watershed preservation. These environmentally-conscious components include permeable paving, native fruit orchard, invasive plant removal, reusing existing materials, bio-retention collection system, and a rain garden. Respecting our environment in our design solutions is how we honor our community.
