High-quality community facilities and homes in New Addington town centre in the London Borough of Croydon

New Addington was identified as a location for growth, with significant opportunities to capitalise on its strategic position. Moreover, the town centre itself has been allocated as an area for rejuvenation. The goal? To make it more attractive to users, shoppers, and visitors—and more usable for community events.

Our planning team recently gained consent for the development of a new leisure and community centre which is anticipated to be the catalyst for regenerating the town centre. The development will replace existing, ageing leisure and community space as well as provide a small number of family homes along the rear elevation, avoiding the blank facade wall problem often associated with large leisure centre schemes.

A high-quality residential scheme is also planned nearby. it will provide an extension to the existing community through new homes with a mix of tenures. Taken together, the Council sees these two new developments as making a real difference for residents, businesses, and the whole community. Our job includes planning, transport, environmental, utilities, and engineering advice.

The construction work will be finished by the end of 2019, with the leisure centre—including a six-lane, 25-metre swimming pool with seating for 150 spectators—opening by the spring of 2020.
