Octagon Pond Elementary School

Due to overall technology and curriculum changes, both learning and teaching styles of the current generation are evolving. A static education environment will not do, especially for Octagon Pond Elementary, where the needs of their students come first. We took a learning-in-place design approach to allow for flexibility over time, creating a bright, stimulating space for students to study and socialize.

This 2-story school has been designed to provide a bright and welcoming environment, supportive of education and learning. The interior and exterior materials were selected to be durable, with low maintenance requirements, while still providing aesthetic interest. A healthy learning environment is achieved through maximized views to the exterior, providing natural light and a connection to the natural surroundings for students and staff. These openings promote student interaction, connectivity, and increased security, while fostering a sense of place and community.

With a population of just over 21,000 residents, Paradise isn’t exactly a booming metropolis. But the smaller the community, the greater the need to foster a sense of collaboration in a learning environment is. With this new learning space, students can learn in paradise, in Paradise.
