Capstone Phase 3

Capstone Phase 3 is a complete urban redevelopment of a former light industrial area, transforming it into an extension of the City’s downtown core and blending the urban environment with the natural beauty of the Red Deer River.

As the prime engineering consultant, our team provided engineering design services, landscape architecture, and construction administration for new roadways, bike paths, enhanced street scaping, raised crosswalks, and utilities. At the heart of the project is the riverfront public plaza designed around protecting old growth trees—it was constructed with a decorative fountain center piece, street furniture, parking lot, future river lookout area, enhanced landscaping, and decorative color changing lights. The plaza’s one-of-a-kind design was prepared for future community events with built-in amenities. Sustainable design elements were also incorporated throughout the project including a bio-swale, improved stormwater capture, bicycle facilities, and preservation of old growth and riverfront vegetation.

Now complete, the citizens of Red Deer can enjoy more options for living an active life and gathering in their community.
