A self-described geek, Vining enjoys the challenge and satisfaction of problem-solving that comes with a career in process engineering. Over his many years in the energy industry, he has obtained a wide range of experience with conventional oil and gas, heavy oils, oil sands, and tailings projects, as well as pilot plants and tech development, fertilizer, weed killer, uranium, petrochemicals, pharma, and potash.
Vining’s role as a senior process engineer includes working on everything weird and wonderful when it comes to process design work, mentoring the next generation, working on proposals, and the general spreading of entropy. Vining prioritizes continual learning and development, offering solution-based and tailored services and maintaining a healthy work-life balance.
When he’s not volunteering with various badminton, squash, and swim clubs—and the odd career day—Vining spends his time travelling, riding his motorcycle, golfing, playing games with his three sons, or trying out the latest food scenes with his daughter.
