Walter is passionate about creating a positive, long-lasting impact on the communities and regions he serves. His 30-year career has taken him to many historical mining properties where he’s been amazed by the fascinating history, characters, and vibrant communities he encounters.
As an experienced hydrogeologist, Walter has guided projects in all phases of the mining life cycle, from feasibility studies to operation to closure and remediation. He’s contributed to projects on five different continents to address contaminate releases, assess environmental impacts, develop new resources, and collaborate with regulatory agencies and stakeholders to achieve project goals. Walter’s professional practice focuses on responsible mine water management, closing and reclaiming legacy mine properties for new uses, and developing the mineral resources needed for the energy transition.
Although he enjoys the challenges of successfully conducting mining activities with minimal environmental impact, Walter’s greatest joy is spending time with his family, especially when traveling or skiing.
