A senior geotechnical engineer with a focus on rock mechanics, Lesley manages geotechnical projects, supervises a team of engineers, and provides technical guidance. She specializes in open pit geotechnical designs (from conceptual level to closure and all the stages in between), instrumentation analysis, and rock mass characterization. At heart, Lesley is a geology nerd. It’s a great day whenever she can be in the field and find a cool rock.
With a background in operations, Lesley appreciates the chance to collaborate with operators and help with the safe development of their sites, such as when Stantec took on the challenging task of assessing, monitoring, and mitigating the slope at a western Canada open pit mine. Lesley and her team analyzed the complex geological formations using both traditional methods and their in-house virtual reality studio. Remediation involved redirecting water flow, preventing material runout, dewatering, and implementing additional monitoring systems, contributing to the successful completion of mining operations in 2023.
When she’s looking for a creative outlet, Lesley turns to D&D—dungeons and dragons. Her long-running game has let her use her imagination to create immersive narratives during gameplay, and she brings exciting scenes to life by incorporating crafting, painting, and 3D printing.
