Committed to helping protect valuable freshwater resources in Canada, Johanna does her part by using her knowledge and experience to help clients solve their water quality and solid waste concerns.
Graduating from the University of Manitoba with a bachelor of environmental science, Johanna has turned her passion for the outdoors into a decade long career. In her five years at Stantec as an environmental scientist, she’s made a difference by bridging the gap between western science and traditional knowledge, working with Indigenous groups to integrate various perspectives and concerns into environmental assessment and monitoring.
Through stakeholder engagement, project management, environmental assessment, and environmental monitoring, Johanna satisfies her yearning for a job with variability. She values learning from the people who live and work where projects take place—she believes that this knowledge and adaptability can help create better designs. Johanna’s background working in the non-profit sector coordinating environmental projects for First Nations informed these values, which she incorporates into the projects she works on.
