With over 40 years of experience, Al plays a key role leading and supporting local, provincial, and federal regulatory and permitting applications, environmental management system auditing, regulatory compliance auditing and environmental and socio-economic assessments. He also performs environmental risk identification and assessment and environmental management planning for projects throughout British Columbia and Yukon.
The first two decades of Al’s career were in the pulp and paper industry where he was responsible for the overall environmental management of a coastal BC pulp and paper company. During that time, he managed several large initiatives, including implementing an environment management system to achieve ISO 14001 registration, permitting for a major mill expansion and modernization project, and Department of Fisheries and Oceans Canada approval for the operation of a water intake system. More recently, Al was a lead in the environmental and socio-economic assessment for a large hydroelectric dam project in northern BC.
When he’s not finding ways to integrate sustainable solutions, Al loves hiking with his dog, Tilly, and playing the fiddle (mostly Cape Breton music).
