Sonya is passionate about climate adaptation that supports resilient, socially just, and sustainable communities. She works with data analysts, engineers, and landscape architects to understand climate-related risks and advance implementable, community-supported solutions. Currently, she focuses on advancing climate-resilient transportation systems, with recent projects including developing resilience improvement plans for two state departments of transportation.
With an interdisciplinary background in natural and social science research, private philanthropy, and state government, Sonya brings a holistic approach to her projects. A graduate of Tufts University's Urban and Environmental Policy and Planning graduate program, she examined climate change adaptation challenges through an environmental justice lens in her academic research.
When she isn’t working toward climate resilience Sonya enjoys testing out bicycle infrastructure, going salsa dancing, and taking art classes.
