Wally’s team is responsible for a lot of the IT stuff we don’t consider, but can’t work without. He collaborates with IT team leads and architects to support and update our underlying IT infrastructure, which includes visible components such as Skype, Exchange, and SharePoint but also covers those invisible components such as Windows servers, backups and recovery, and—of course—the network.
With today’s constantly changing technology, Wally and his team are always busy on critical internal initiatives, and it’s team spirit and cohesiveness that keep things running. “IT is one environment that is non-stop running flat out—thank goodness we have many good, talented, hardworking individuals who work and support each other,” says Wally.
Wally’s guiding principle is also one of our core tenants: We do what is right. In leading his group, Wally always strives to do the right thing, for the systems, the users, and the team.
When he gets a break from the hectic world of IT, Wally does something outside—working in his yard or going biking. He and his wife enjoy traveling to the Alberta mountains, and every year in the last five, they have been fortunate to have visited different parts of Europe. They just came back from Italy, and they’re hoping to go to Croatia next.
