Growing up in the southwest of Western Australia, the ocean has always been an integral component of Cory’s life. As a coastal engineer, he helps to preserve the coastal environment by studying coastal and oceanographic processes such as wave propagation, currents, tides, cyclones, storm surges, and sediment transport.
Known for his work in the integration of field measurements, numerical modeling, and statistical analysis, Cory’s studies inform land use planning, infrastructure design, and environmental impact assessments across Australasia. His experience also includes the design of coastal protection measures such as beach nourishment, groynes, revetments, and breakwaters. A project Cory is particularly proud of is his work at Denarau Marina, the gateway to the Fiji archipelago, where he performed wave and hydrodynamic investigations to inform upgrades to the existing marina.
When he’s not in the field, Cory enjoys surfing, traveling, boating, and supporting his favorite Australian football team, Fremantle.
