Dams are critical infrastructure that help keep our communities safe, and designing and maintaining dams are big responsibilities. Jesse provides hydraulic and hydrologic (H&H) analyses for dams and performs dam inspections as well as regulatory Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) floodplain analyses and map revisions.
He assesses bridge scour, designs spillways, estimates reservoir safe yield, and conducts potential failure mode analyses (PFMA)—all technical services that help our communities stay safe. For example, Jesse provided engineering support for the Little Creek Dam in James City County, Virginia. This area has a long history of problems related to surface flow and/or seepage of unknown origin—Jesse helped the client better understand the critical next steps to approach the issues.
Outside the office, Jesse enjoys spending time with his children, traveling, playing the piano, rowing on the James River, and training for his next triathlon.
