Chris is accountable for the secure and reliable delivery of Stantec’s global technology platforms including the core and regional infrastructure, security systems, application and server technology stacks, and the various systems and applications within. His role also encompasses responsibility for everything from systems security and networking to vendor management and IT disaster recovery. Chris also sets our technology direction and handles all of the associated IT financial management and budgeting for anything related to Stantec’s large and complex IT ecosystem.
Over the next year, Chris and his team are focused on integrating Microsoft Azure cloud solutions into the Stantec IT ecosystem. Their objective is to increase personal productivity and introduce seamless team collaboration capabilities by incorporating Microsoft cloud services such as Office 365, OneDrive for Business, Groups, and Video into our staff’s daily workflow. In addition, they’re migrating several of our existing backend Microsoft services (such as Exchange and Skype) to the cloud.
Finally, Chris and his team are building out a brand new Stantec data center facility and implementing a new core network that will provide a platform for embracing emerging technology in the future, technologies such as iOT, hybrid cloud, containers, and highly converged integrated systems.
In a role like this, most people would expect a purely technological mind, but Chris considers himself more of a visual and creative thinker—someone who likes to creatively apply technology to solve complex enterprise scale technology challenges. In what little spare time Chris has available to him, he pursues 3D animation, photography/multimedia, and jazz and rock drumming.
