Streams may seem inconsequential, but for Matt they represent as important a link to the natural ecology of a place as any river, forest, fen, or lake. Fascinated by nature, and streams, since childhood, Matt pursued knowledge dedicating himself to supporting the natural world and is now an environmental engineer with a focus on stream restoration.
It’s a given that development will intersect with nature. Here’s where Matt deploys his knowledge of geomorphology and hydrology alongside a slate of advanced technologies to create a detailed plan for all phases of stream stabilization and restoration design, including hydrologic modeling and analysis, channel sizing, stream assessment and monitoring, erosion control design, and construction oversight. For Matt, it’s about respecting the land and water we use, and working to keep the benefits of a natural landscape alongside our built works.
It’s not surprising that outside of work he enjoys being out in the mountains trail running, mountain biking, skiing, mountaineering, and volunteering for his local search and rescue team. Off the mountain, he enjoys reading, travel, guitar, and language learning.
