Since becoming a founding member of her junior high ecology club, Kate has been passionate about protecting the environment. She’s made a career out of helping clients understand their watersheds and enact strategies to address ecological degradation and contribute to healthier waterways, a career that has spanned terrestrial and marine environments and crossed international boundaries.
In addition to design work, Kate has experience in program project management for water quality and stream restoration implementation, working on-site with local municipalities to best utilize stormwater fees to meet watershed-wide water quality requirements. Two favorite projects include developing a fish passage monitoring protocol to improve the industry’s understanding of what makes a successful passage and restoring an urban stream that reestablished natural function and provided city-dwellers a local connection to the natural environment.
