During his time as a structural engineer, Tom has witnessed the ongoing evolution of the transportation industry and the challenges and opportunities associated with bridge engineering. He enjoys mentoring younger engineers through these unique challenges, while advancing his own career working on bridge reconstruction and rehabilitation projects for various departments of transportation across the US Midwest.
Tom’s interest in structural engineering began in high school when his fascination with bridges, building, railroads, and Chicago infrastructure led him to pursue his passion. His experience ranges from bridge replacements and structural retrofits to full roadway reconstructions.
When he isn’t designing bridges, Tom enjoys spending time at home with his wife, young daughter, and two dogs in Geneva, Illinois. He also finds time to play guitar, woodwork, and do DIY projects around the house.
