Neva specializes in characterizing risks associated with environmental and occupational hazards. She holds certifications in risk assessment, exposure decision analysis, hazard analysis critical control point (HACCP) plan development, and ServSafe training.

Using standard risk methodologies, Neva aims to understand exposures experienced by workers and consumers who may lack industrial hygiene support and resources. She characterizes exposures to improve our understanding of the scenarios where they need to be controlled. For example, she has evaluated exposures experienced by fabricators who manipulate silica-containing materials and construction workers who applied asbestos-containing joint compound. She’s also analyzed exercise instructors and restaurant customers exposed to noise, adults and children who consume pesticide residues on produce, and nail salon workers who use polish and solvents.

Additionally, Neva has published on her work in many publications and peer-reviewed journals.
