As the technical lead for mine waste management projects, Kris has vast experience in tailings dam engineering, mine waste management, mine closures, and hydrogeology. He has often acted as the bridge between the environmental, water resources, civil, and geotechnical disciplines.
Kris has faced down the challenges of carrying out projects in remote areas with high seismicity and has worked in various climatic conditions, from sub-arctic to tropical. His past projects have included the development of tailings storage areas, sediment control dams, water dams, waste rock dumps, seepage collection facilities and access roads. Currently, Kris is working with multidisciplinary teams on a large-scale mine development project which, once completed, will produce lithium oxide. This will be used for the production of batteries to power automobiles and help fight climate change.
When he’s not at work, Kris can often be found outdoors enjoying nature, or traveling.
