Having grown up in a historic mining town with mining in his family’s background, it seemed only natural for Wilhelm to pursue a career in mining engineering. Now he’s a practical, hands-on mining engineer with almost two decades of experience in underground and surface mine engineering, planning, and operations—primarily base metals.
Wilhelm believes in safety first, providing a safe workplace for miners so they can go home to their families after each shift. Incorporating his belief that every mining engineer is first and foremost a mine safety professional, he specializes in ground control and the physical stability of mines. By applying geotechnical engineering concepts to mine design, he helps establish a safe and efficient working environment. A career highlight for him was providing direct site support at Resolution Copper’s underground copper mine in Arizona.
When he’s not at a mine site, depending on the season, Wilhelm can be found skiing the back country or exploring nearby trout streams with a fly rod—usually at the end of some wilderness trail.
