Shane’s 30-year career has given him vast experience in civil engineering, civil design, project coordination, and visualization. In his role as senior project manager, he supports our mining design staff and ensures they have the tools needed for successful project execution. He particularly enjoys the challenges of working and designing in underground mine environments, as the confined spaces and limited resources force him to consider all potential impacts of the design well in advance.
Passionate about creativity and innovation, Shane is well-versed in the areas of animation, BIM, and 3D modeling. He has led the charge to incorporate elements of augmented and virtual reality (AR and VR) into the design process for the mining sector for its invaluable ability to show clients the end stages of their project design. So far, he has been able to utilize AR and VR technology on several Stantec mining projects, facilitating real-time model interaction and design reviews for clients.
Even outside of work, Shane likes to create AR and VR models of anything and everything for his own enjoyment.
