The Arctic presents some of the most challenging aspects of engineering, from severe weather, to building on permafrost to long supply chains—aspects that Isaac welcomes every day.
Recently, Isaac was key member of the mechanical engineering team working on the Qikiqtani Correctional Healing Centre. This facility providing culturally appropriate, secure and compassionate corrections services boasts the largest construction budget for a building in the city of Iqaluit.
As an engineering Jack-of-all-trades, Isaac has served as an assistant project coordinator, site supervisor, mechanical inspector, draftsperson, and more on projects across the vast and spectacular territory of Nunavut.
Isaac considers it a privilege to work in this remarkable place where issues like climate change and sustainability have critical importance. He sees beauty in the unique landscape and has great appreciation for the special relationships that must be built and maintained to sustain communities here.
