Growing up, Karen was always fascinated by her father’s work in the space industry as a mechanical engineer. This interest sparked what would become a lifelong passion—she became an engineer herself and has spent over four decades working governmental projects.
Karen is passionate about providing evaluations to determine downstream consequences for dam safety programs. She knows how critical it is to understand downstream communities and river activities to make sure populations remain safe during extreme flooding or dam safety events. Karen specializes in risk assessments, nuclear licensing site drainage assessments, and river and reservoir operations. She’s served as the technical lead for a wide range of projects related to water resources, hydraulic analysis, surface water modeling, dam safety, with emphasis in assessing flooding impacts.
Born and raised in Florida, Karen has never met a beach she didn’t like. She also loves college sports, gardening, outdoor activities, and spending time with her friends.
