Growing up in Lebanon, Sara knew she always wanted to be an engineer. She worked diligently on her education, receiving engineering degrees that culminated in her earning a Ph.D in civil engineering, specializing in geotechnical engineering. While completing her degrees, she gained more than seven years’ experience on different projects in the Middle East and Africa.
A geotechnical engineer, Sara performs technical work that consists of analysis and design of geo-structures, slope stability, multiple accounts analyses, and field investigations. She also makes presentations, plans projects, and develops proposals, memoranda, and detailed reports of construction activities. Sara provides field engineering support and helps solve project challenges. Working with the Cerro Verde Mine, one of the largest copper reserves in Peru and the world, stands out as a memorable project with a variety of interesting engineering challenges that she relished.
When not at work, Sara enjoys kayaking, hiking, and skiing. She loves reading books and watching documentaries (about historical events, wildlife, and investigations). Sara also likes playing badminton and basketball.
