Nick is a senior geospatial technology analyst for our Innovation Office, providing technical expertise to a breadth of geospatial and geographic information system (GIS) projects. He is a natural problem solver with strong attention to detail as well as a desire to learn and adapt.
With experience providing geographic support on projects, Nick has generated maps and spatial analyses to support National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) documents both visually and statistically. He also uses his skill with Python computer programming to automate and expedite GIS processes. For example, Nick created a custom reporting solution for the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) to automatically populate templated forms with attribution and photos from field collected GIS data. This tool was integrated into the client’s GIS platform and made available throughout their organization.
Nick loves the outdoors and spends his free time kayaking, fishing, and camping. He balances out the virtual nature of his professional work with hands on projects such as woodworking and fly tying.
