Cyrena is a professional urban planner and manager with more than 35 years of experience in community planning and development for both the public and private sector with a focus on transportation and infrastructure. Her program and project management expertise includes working with communities, businesses, and people affected by major United States Department of Defense actions, such as base closure/redevelopment, compatible community development to support continued military operations, economic development, master planned community development, community comprehensive planning and land development regulations, and large-scale transportation projects.
With experience that also includes public engagement, Cyrena has interfaced with elected officials and economic development organizations, conducted federal and state agency coordination, and approached community design with climate resilience, environmental impact remediation, and renewable energy development in mind.
When she’s not working, Cyrena enjoys hiking with her husband and two sons through Virginia’s Blue Ridge Mountains and kayaking the Occoquan and Potomac Rivers.
