Hannah’s greatest satisfaction is working with, and advocating for, environmental justice (EJ) communities that are affected by transportation projects. As a transportation planner, her attention to detail and experience in technical writing and geographic information system (GIS) mapping equips her to identify community resources and understand how a specific project could impact people living there.
Working on the I-526 Lowcountry Corridor WEST project in South Carolina has been the most rewarding project Hannah’s been part of so far. As part of the community outreach team working directly with EJ residents, she helped tailor a mitigation plan, giving the community a voice in the project. This open-door communication policy and extensive outreach effort helped build trust between the client and impacted residents.
When she isn’t advocating for communities, Hannah decompresses from work in her garden. She loves growing okra, tomatoes, peas, and raspberries!
