With over 45 years spent as a transportation professional, Peter has experience in transit, paratransit, intercity coach and airport shuttle bus service, and vehicle manufacturing. Some of his responsibilities have included new service implementation, vehicle specifications, long-range fleet and life cycle planning, and directing work forces.
Peter is one of the few established persons in the industry with experience at middle and senior management levels in both operations and fleet positions. He appreciates the interaction and relationship between key functional components of a transit system including dispatching, vehicle staging, and service line functions. This hands-on experience is complemented by having served two terms as director of the Ontario Public Transit Association.
When he isn’t working on transit projects, Peter is active as a historian in and about transit history. He operates century old streetcars as a museum volunteer, demonstrating an earlier version of zero emission transit propulsion that has virtually disappeared from most of North America. He also serves as secretary for the Canadian Transit Heritage Foundation.
